FundaCristo relies heavily on the generosity of people like you to help provide a Christ-centered low-cost education for children who live in poverty in Nicaragua. Many families we serve struggle to feed their children and are not in a position to pay the fees required to attend schools.
We believe sponsoring a teacher is one of the most important and effective way of keeping poverty stricken children in school. It enables parents who do not have the means to obtain an education for their children to do so. These teachers address the educational, mental, physical and spiritual needs of the children. It might be encouraging for you to know that the parents of these children are not left out in the development process of their own children. They just need a hand up and not a hand out from you. The parents have the responsibility for the provision of uniforms, shoes, and other school supplies. All we are kindly asking of you is to help sponsor a teacher.
When you sponsor a teacher today, you will be making a significant difference in the lives of people whom you may never meet. We see this as a true testimony of faith as you are reaching out to your global neighbors to reflect the Light of Christ by showing love and support for His people in Nicaragua. Through your generosity, we are improving the lives of over 400 students, 25 teachers and staff members in our various schools in Nicaragua.
The Ministry of Education in Nicaragua publishes an annual teacher pay scale based on teaching qualifications for public schools in Nicaragua. As a private school, we are not required to follow this guideline, however we need to be competitive in order to retain qualified teachers who meet the Ministry’s criteria for school accreditation.
Our goal in 2019, is that all of our teachers make around $250 a month. These salaries reflect an increase from last year and we are still below market. Another pressure on this year’s payroll is that the governments annual increase of teachers’ salaries in March.
Most of the educators in the area we serve are not only underpaid, but over worked and unappreciated. For as little as $250 a month, you can sponsor a teacher's base salary and let them know they make a world of difference.
Sponsoring teachers also helps us place well qualified teachers in classrooms so our students can receive the quality and equitable education they need to lift themselves and communities out of poverty.
By supporting a teacher, you are providing a vital resource which will change the lives of children in Nicaragua where people face a daily struggle against unemployment, violence, crime and drugs. We can break this cycle through education and love. At $250/month to sponsor a Teacher who will work tirelessly to give children the start in life that they deserve and we take for granted. Please stand with us to make a difference.
